It doesn’t happen so often in Gent to see a girl so stylish that you could look at her attitude and looks for hours without being tired of it. And instead between yesterday and today I saw two of them, just like this bam bam! One after the other. Total shock.
I saw this one in the first drawing outside a bar where I had a quick glass of whine with my friends after work and a pizza. I really wanted to stop and ask her to marry me but Tommy pushed me away. Damn.
(if you want to copy her today I discovered that the striped skirt is from H&M! And the coat was a double-breasted for man)
I saw this other girl today, while having lunch in a very nice bio soup-bar with Tommy. I just stared at her for a good couple of minutes with my spoon stopped in the air between my soup and my mouth. I looked quite dumb. And I think she noticed. I feel ashamed. Sigh.
If I only had a good camera and some courage, how many things I could show you! This makes me so sad…. But I hope the drawings will give you an idea!
Gotta go, a big kiss!
Al

Your drawings give me more than a good idea of how stylish these girls looked, no need for camera :)
Oh thanks Veronika you’re always so sweet… But I still think the camera would be better :D
totally agree with Veronika! your illustrations are brilliant – and (what makes the whole thing so good) they leave room for imagination and individualization (sounds very stupid, but you know what i mean, don’t you?), which i think is even better than seeing a picture of a perfect outfit.
kisses xoxoxo
As I said also to Veronika, I still think the camera would be better… but for the imagination part I agree… you need a BIG imagination to really see them in all their coolness in my poor drawings :D LOL joking, thank you my dear xxx
I really love your drawings especially the first one! Very classy :)
Thank you Gigi!! You’re always so sweet in your compliments… The first girl indeed was the one that was most impressive. I don’t love my drawing (I prefer the second one) but her look was amazing, better than the second girl, more original and eye-catching

aww Al your comment made me almost cry (ALMOST ! chloe never cries *hmf* )
i kid i kid :D i cried when my goldfish “teacup” died . just a teeny bit . i think..
and once again you amazed me with your drawings .. i had to close my drooling mouth to focus on the details . which i believe is not a suprise .
i love the long skirt . and the boots . i think they are similar to your zara boots .
aanywaay . i just want to say thank you for being my blog-friend and your amazing , plus your new site looks incredible . i am almost jealous (ALMOST! once again , chloe is never jealous . *coughs* occasionally *coughs* )
okay okay im gonna shut up now . really .
xxxChloe the kid who is buried under school work . and who also procrastinates . A LOT (see , i cant shut up )
Chloé just… I love you!! :D My little crazy thing, you make me so happy with your comments you should pass by more often! xxx
I think this is the skirt the first girl is wearing: http://lookbook.nu/look/1083329-A-little-less-conversation-a-little-more-action-please (according to the link it is a dress)…
Your illustration was so good, I immediately made the link when I saw the picture!!
Love,
Anna
No no, It’s not that one, the one she was wearing has thinner stripes and oblique and it is a skirt… But it looks very similar and that dress is so nice!! I’d like to buy it (but my thighs are just too big for horizontal stripes :( )
xxx
Enough of this being ashamed business!! Al you gotta go for it and then you won’t have to go so crazy remembering all the items these girls were wearing. Not that I don’t think you should illustrate them because what you do is far more interesting than street style photography. I actually don’t get inspired to draw people in New York ever HAHA. No idea why? Maybe it’s because I would rather paint pretty like cakes and macaroons all day….xoxoxox
You know what we should do? I’ll come to NY and we’ll go around: you’ll give me the courage to take photos of people and I’ll use my incredible nose for cakes to find the best cute bakeries, where you can draw the cakes that I WILL eat! Deal? :D
I’m going to agree with that first comment: no need for a camera, these drawings are miles better than photos. You really know how to capture soul and with cameras, that aspect often gets lost…
And the answers to your questions on my post:
When we moved into our house last year, I had a clear vision on how I wanted my room to look, so I picked out everything myself – though my mom gave a lot of good advice ;).
The vanity table is from a beautiful antique store, called Hot & Cold, in the Kloosterstraat, the best place in Antwerp for antique-hunting. You can find the link to their website in the description at the end of the post!
The address: Hot & Cold, Kloosterstraat 66, Antwerp – so you know where to go, if you’re ever in Antwerp ;).
Thank you my dear!!
And thank you also for the shop address! I think I know that road, is it the one with all the antique shops? It’s amazing… I love shopping in Antwerp, I think I’m passing by again around april and I’ll surely visit that shop! Also because if I understand the place, there is a vintage shop nearby that I really like (it is called Episode)
Thank you so much for your reply!xxx
Yeah, it’s indeed the street with all the antiques! I love going there: it has an amazing and creative vibe…
I’ve passed by Episode many times, but I’ve never been inside. I’ll definitely check it out if I’m there again!
PS If you need a shortlist of my favorite shops and places to eat for your visit in April, just let me know by then ;)!
Sure I’ll ask!! I love to have suggestions by the inhabitants of the cities I visit, it’s the best way to “live” them :D
Your drawings are amazing! I went through your whole blog (almost) and just randomly decided to comment here. Really, you have a gift!
