About

“The Red Dot because I love red. And I love when I see just a bit of red on a different background.
Or suddenly, on a street, like a blonde woman with a red coat in a grey Belgian November afternoon. Because my house is the only red one in my street in the center of my beloved new city, Ghent.
Or just because if you zoom out the Japanese flag it’s nothing but a red dot on a white background.”

The Red Dot was born a day in which Al (Alessia, if we want to be official), tired of being a nerd scientist full time, decides to start to nurture again some of her old –but important- passions: drawing, talking about fashion, Japan, writing.
When she was a little child she used to spend all her time drawing, her super cool Missoni-like collection was ready in 1993, when she was only 9, shamelessly copied from her first Vogue issues and in which Claudia Schiffer was the only model.
But for years no drawings, pencils left to rotten in boxes and bags in her garage… But she was feeling something was missing.
One can’t possible live of Science only, can they?
Urge for beauty, lightness, colors and shallowness “You know what? I’ll open a blog, so that I can talk as much as I like about all this frivolous things… And maybe it will make me start to draw again too.”
So here it is! Enjoy!
NB: I write myself both in Italian and English. Problem is that when I was living in Italy I could at least speak (and write) very well my language, now that I live in Belgium I speak both in a bad way :-p so please, bare my errors, I’m sorry!

Hi Al, just wanna say I love your watercolor pieces and can totally relate to how you feel about drawing(and fashion). Something is missing too and that’s why your story moves me. It’s time to pick up the pens, or buy some new ones :) Keep up the good work!
